// I reckon you’ve come to this website to get to know more about my work in content design, but, just in case you find yourself wanting to know a little bit more about me, I’ve rustled up a few paragraphs for your perusing pleasure. //

Born and raised in the high desert of western Colorado, I spent much of my childhood on my parents’ hobby mule farm (where I discovered that the work, nonetheless, was real enough). When I wasn’t irrigating, mending fences, and scooping manure, I stayed busy with the old Colorado pursuits of hiking and biking, while also making time to dress up in various outfits and play (or create) all the DIY venues my small town could offer my best friends’ and my band, Crowded Agnes.

A love of language then found me studying Classics at Macalester College, where I focused, in part, on Archaic Greek lyric poetry. The other half of my Classics practice was focused on the dynamics of colonization in ancient Sicily, and my thesis drew on linguistics, archaeology, comp lit, urban social geography, and contemporary post-colonial theory to push for reimagining the language and frameworks we use to think about that ancient history.

Graduating into the uncertainty of a recession, I ventured into the world of coffee, where I spent two years managing a bicycle racing-themed cafe in Dundas, Ontario (RIP, Domestique Café Cyclo-Sportif; this monogrammed apron will never die), and another two years getting ever more nerdy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, first at Colectivo (fka Alterra) and then Anodyne.

Throughout these years, I kept up a writing and music practice, performing solo and with bands, while doing some freelance editing and composition coaching for graduate student theses and dissertations.

Eventually, my persistent love of language tore me away from the click of solenoids and whir of burr grinders and drove me to San Francisco State University, where I received an MFA in Creative Writing, with a focus on creative non-fiction and a concentration in teaching creative writing. Mules (and the noises they make) made more than a few appearances in my work.

I left that foggy dreamscape for the limestone and live oaks of Austin, Texas, where I first entered the world of UX. I spent 2 years working for Apple Maps, first as an Italian- and Spanish-language data editor and then as a QA/QC specialist, before moving into UX Research Operations for Google in 2019, where I specialized in supporting Google Cloud Platform and Firebase research studies.

Having developed a fondness for in-product UX, storytelling, and research, I moved into the world of content design in early 2020.

I delight in combining my linguist’s love of the fine points of language and mechanics, my lifelong love of stories, and my joy in learning through conversation to create dynamic and user-focused experiences. And in all things, I am committed to applying the lessons I’ve had the tremendous privilege to learn from teachers, peers, workplaces, and my community in the ceaseless effort to create ever more inclusive and accessible UX, because digital products and the internet should be for everybody.
